Summoning[edit | edit source]
Guntera does not spawn on its own and must be summoned by the player by using Pandora's Box while standing in front of Plantera's Bulb.
Attacks[edit | edit source]
Guntera follows a similar AI pattern to Plantera, but is armed with six guns attached to its main body (a Quad-Barrel Shotgun, Sniper Rifle, Uzi, Celebration Mk2, Venus Magnum, and Tactical Shotgun). These guns will all spray bullets at a very fast pace, each of which deals enough damage to instantly kill most players and inflicts a purely cosmetic debuff. The guns continuously spray bullets as they slowly rotate to aim at the player, but will occasionally reverse direction. The velocity of each bullet fired increases as Guntera's life decreases, and the bullets can pass through solid tiles for a short period after being fired.
Each gun has the same HP as Guntera but takes damage seperately from the main boss, and can be killed separately if desired. The guns will also despawn all projectiles on contact, making damaging Guntera through the wall of guns problematic.
At 50% HP, Guntera goes berserk, drastically increasing its movement speed and releasing a large number of hooks. Its hooks become extremely aggressive and lock onto the player at incredible speed, while also gaining the ability to latch onto air.
At 40% HP, Guntera's Hooks all create their own tentacles, which have the same HP as Guntera and also fire deluges of bullets dealing massive damage.
Guntera's attacks use multiple invulnerability cooldowns, meaning the player can be hit by attacks despite having invulnerability frames from taking another hit. This allows Guntera to deal its massive damage at an extremely high rate, especially in phase 2.
Trivia[edit | edit source]
- While the boss is active, the vanilla track Plantera will play.
- Because of the massive number of bullets this boss fires, it's not uncommon for fights with Guntera to exceed the projectile limit and despawn projectiles at random.
- Despite being far lower in progression, its difficulty is generally considered to be higher than the final boss of the mod, due to Guntera's high HP, resistances, insane mobility in its berserk state, nigh-unavoidable projectile spam, and its ability to instantly kill even endgame players making it borderline impossible to defeat legitimately.
