The Backdoor is a piece of furniture available for purchase the Curio Trader after unlocking Tier 8 items. Once it is placed, right-clicking it brings up a menu that lists all other backdoors in the current world. On selecting a target destination, the player will instantly travel to the selected backdoor.
The displayed name of a backdoor is generated when it is first placed. The rules are as follows:
- The first part of the backdoor's name will depend on its position in the world. For this, the world is divided into three sections.
- Left section: Western
- Central section: Central
- Right section: Eastern
- If placed in an evil biome or the Hallow, the middle part of the name is Corrupted, Crimson or Hallowed. Otherwise, it will be left blank.
- The last part of the name indicates the local biome.
- Exception to the naming rule: Any backdoor placed in the dungeon will simply be named Dungeon
For example, a backdoor that is placed near ocean at the right side of the map after the Hallow has spread there will be named "Eastern Hallowed Ocean". Manual renaming of backdoors is planned to be added at some point in the future.
