Shifting is an internal mechanic in Jetshift that is triggered whenever an NPC spawns, which buffs it significantly.
When an NPC spawns, and its max life is over 2,500, it has a chance of being Shift'ed. However, the NPC in question has to have been defeated at least once, to prevent the first encounter from being cheesed.

The chance of an entity being shifted depends on a few factors:
If the entity is a normal enemy:
In Normal Mode, it has a 1/1,000 chance of being Shift'ed.
In Expert Mode, it has a 1/500 chance of being Shift'ed.
In Nightmare Mode, it has a 1/250 chance of being Shift'ed.
If the entity is a boss:
In Normal Mode, it has a 1/80 chance of being Shift'ed.
In Expert Mode, it has a 1/45 chance of being Shift'ed.
In Nightmare Mode, it has a 1/20 chance of being Shift'ed.
Buffs[ | ]
When Shift'ed, it gains the following stats:
Increased life.
If an integer overflow occurs, max life will be set back to 2,147,483,647.
Increased knockback resistance.
Knockback will never go negative, as it will be set to zero if it attempts to.
Increased damage.
The damage will never exceed 300, unless the entity's base damage is already over 300.
Increased defense.
Defense is capped at 100, unless the entity's base defense is over 100.
Rewards[ | ]
Killing a Shift'ed NPC will award three times the amount of money the normal variant would drop, as well as an explosion upon death. A Shift'ed entity also has the chance to drop 1-2 Unstable Fragments.
