The Annihilation is a neutral-tier boss in Jetshift Mod. He is fought in the Fortitudo Dei at any stage in the game. He is a very large worm, similar to The Destroyer. He poses a great threat to new players, so preparation must be made before trying to fight him.

He is also one of the only 2 optional bosses in the mod, with the other being Possessor, Purgatory Incarnate, but is recommended to be fought before tackling other bosses as he drops great loot when killed. While he can be fought at any stage in the game, he will adapt his stats to the player's current stage of progression, as the player cannot fight the preceding tier of The Annihilation if they're in Hardmode or end-game.

Spawn[ | ]

The Annihilation is summoned by checking the Artificer Campfire located in a chasm of the Fortitudo Dei. Patience may be required to do this, as Annihilation will only spawn 10% of the time when this happens. Attempting to summon The Annihilation again while it is alive will have no effect.

Behavior[ | ]

Like most worm NPCs, The Annihilation burrows through blocks and launches himself into the air, attempting to ram the player with his head. He is incredibly fast, even catching up to players on Asphalt Blocks. While alive, The Annihilation will cycle through an attack sequence. While he moves through the surrounding terrain, he builds up Jelichor Crystals around his tail, before launching them with a loud roar. This roar makes Jelichor Stalagmites fall from any nearby tile (not just Fortitudo Dei related tiles), making enclosed spaces particularly dangerous. After this happens, he attempts to charge the player while breathing Anti-Light Flame.

Attacking Annihilation's body segments will summon an Eternal Capsule, which summon Eternals overtime if not dealt with quickly. These Eternals shoot Eldritch Bolts, which explode into a tall flame pillar upon collision with a tile (not counting platforms or actuated tiles). Only attacking a singular body segment for the first time will allow this to happen, as Eternal Capsules do not regenerate inside The Annihilation itself.

If the player attempts to lure The Annihilation outside of the Fortitudo Dei, he becomes invulnerable.

Aftermath[ | ]

After The Annihilation has been defeated, Deep Fortitudo Dei tiles becomes mineable.

Notes and Tips[ | ]

  • Piercing weapons such as Jester Arrows are ineffective against The Annihilation, as piercing projectiles will have their damage cut based on their assigned penetration value.
    • Explosions fall under this category, so using explosives will have little effect.
  • Running on asphalt or using a Unicorn Mount are ineffective against The Annihilation due to his incredible speed. However, they can be used to gain some distance from The Annihilation.
  • The Annihilation's loot drops from his head and not the body or tail segments. This means that if The Annihilation's head is far down underground, a lot of digging may be required to obtain the loot, unless the player uses an item-attracting feature from another mod.

Trivia[ | ]

  • The Annihilation's theme is Mors Sanitas Est, which was composed by Shadow Figure.
    • Its original theme is Shrouded in Darkness, which was not composed by Shadow Figure, unlike the other themes.
      • The theme was an edited version of another song that was made by a rhythm gamer.
    • The Annihilation is the only boss in Jetshift that does not drop an Emblem.
