Cactoids are neutral Desert enemies. When attacked, all Cactoids within a 25 tile radius and direct line of sight become hostile. They will also become hostile if the Flowering Cactoid is within 100 tiles. When hostile they follow a slower version of the Unicorn AI. Corrupt/Crimson variants are always hostile, with the weaker Cactites following the Fighter AI instead. Corrupt/Crimson Cactites do not spawn in hardmode.
When under the effect of the Cactoid Commendation, regular Cactoids/Cactites undergo a drastic shift in AI to that of a minion. They will line up behind the player and move into nearby enemies to attack. Cactoids/Cactites attack every 2/3rds of a second and Cactites can damage up to 3 enemies while Cactoids can damage up to 4 during that period. They can be damaged by enemies every 1/3rd of a second.
