The Brood Staff is a craftable Pre-Hardmodesummon weapon. It summons a friendly Rattlersentry known as a Nestling that remains in place and lingers for two minutes before disappearing, lunging at any nearby enemies to deal minor damage and inflict 5 seconds of Poisoned.
Its best modifier is Ruthless for damage output, or Mythical for repeated summoning. While ruthless provides more damage, the sentry can be utilized to repeatedly summon near enemies, which is viable due to how the sentry attacks with contact. Therefore, it may benefit from more speed and mana cost reduction.
The sentry cannot attack midair. It will only attack when grounded on solid tiles and platforms.
Tips[ | ]
The knockback of the sentry can be used to ward off hordes of ground enemies, such as zombies, from either side of the player. This can be particularly useful in early Pre-Hardmode if players find themselves overwhelmed on the surface.
