Krakens are a Hardmode enemy found underwater in the Ocean biome. The Kraken spawns with two invulnerable Kraken Tentacles trailing behind it, which will disappear immediately upon their parent Kraken's defeat, dropping as items. If the player is not in water, the Kraken will jet around passively, similarly to a Jellyfish, and if the Kraken is beached, it will attempt to jump to the ocean.
If both the player and Kraken are in water, it alternates semi-regularly between three phases:
- In its first phase, it behaves similarly to Squids, jetting towards the player while they are in water, tentacles trailing behind it.
- In the second phase, it attempts to rapidly circle the player, while its tentacles dash towards the player in a manner reminiscent of the Eye of Cthulhu's charge attack. These dashes occur in a repeated pattern, with one tentacle dashing, then the other, then both at once, then a pause.
- In the third phase, it moves away from the player while emitting a cloud of ink projectiles, which linger for a few seconds and inflict Obstructed for as long as the player is touching them.
