Hammers are a basic tool type that's easily crafted from when the game starts. Their primary function is to break walls and other background objects, but Terraria Overhaul gives the hammer some new functionality to make it a valid combat weapon.

Hammers have a natural defense penetration when used as a weapon, if minor, but also swing the slowest of all currently Overhauled weapons available.

Changes & Additions[edit | edit source]

Stunning Crush[edit | edit source]

The player can charge up a delayed smash with the Right Mouse Button Use / Attack that does somewhat more damage than a regular swing. Hitting an enemy with this will stun them for one second, giving a pseudo-Confusion effect where they cannot cause contact damage and will be locked in place. If a crit is initiated and the charged attack lands, the stun will last up to five seconds while also debuffing the target's defense.

Velocity Based Damage[edit | edit source]

As with most other melee weapons, damage dealt may be increased with both the player's and the target's velocity on hit, up to a tripled damage modifier.

Head Strikes[edit | edit source]

Precisely hitting an enemy's head will increase damage by 5%, always giving at least +1 damage point. An exclamation point (!) will appear after damage numbers when a head hit occurs.
